How should a Phoenix law firm choose a legal marketing agency?

Choose a Phoenix legal marketing agency on evidence you can check: ask it to show how Google's AI Overview, ChatGPT and Perplexity answer your practice-area questions from Phoenix today, confirm it works only with law firms, and read the contract — term, who owns the website and content, and whether results are tracked to signed cases.

We hold ourselves to the same test. On 9 October 2026 we read Google's results for 'AI legal marketing agency in Phoenix' from a Phoenix location, on desktop and on mobile: the AI Overview named agencies with Phoenix Business Profiles and three directories, six of the ten organic results were directories or lists, and InterCore was not on the page. That measurement is why this section, and the Arizona work behind it, exist.

InterCore works only with law firms, bills month-to-month, and the firm owns its website, content, domain, Google Business Profile and analytics. Signed cases are tracked back to their marketing source through the firm's CRM.

What to check before hiring a Phoenix legal marketing agency (InterCore, 10 October 2026)
Question to askWhat a good answer looks like
Can you show how AI engines answer my practice-area questions from Phoenix today?A dated read of Google's AI Overview, ChatGPT and Perplexity for your practice area, with the sources each engine cited
Do you work only with law firms?Yes — and the agency can name the Arizona rule that governs every claim it writes for you: ER 7.1
Who owns the website, content, domain and Business Profile? The firm, in writing, with nothing to pay to leave
How are results measured?Signed cases tracked to their marketing source, not rankings or traffic

What should a lawyer SEO agency in Phoenix actually deliver?

A lawyer SEO agency in Phoenix should deliver pages that answer the questions Phoenix clients ask, built around the courts and cities where the firm practises — the Superior Court's Central Court Building and South Court Tower, Phoenix Municipal Court, Tempe, Scottsdale, Glendale — plus a complete Google Business Profile and a report that counts signed cases, not rankings.

Every court on this page was checked against the Superior Court of Arizona in Maricopa County's own locations list and Google Places on 10 October 2026, and every neighbouring city is within 18 miles of downtown Phoenix by its recorded coordinates: Tempe 7.8, Glendale 9.0, Scottsdale 9.3, Peoria 13.2, Mesa 14.1, Chandler 16.6, Gilbert 17.6.

The deliverables are the ones Google's own local guidance names: pages that match what a person searched for, a Business Profile that is complete and accurate, and reviews and links that build the firm's prominence. Anything an agency cannot show you on a page or in the Profile is not a deliverable.

How do Phoenix law firms rank on Google Maps?

Google says local results are based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence. A Phoenix firm controls relevance through a complete, accurate Business Profile; it cannot change its distance from the searcher; and it builds prominence through reviews and links from other websites. Google also states there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking.

Google's definitions, read from its Business Profile help on 10 October 2026: relevance is 'how well a Business Profile matches what someone is searching for'; distance is 'how far each business is from the customer who's searching'; prominence is 'how well-known a business is'.

For a Phoenix firm that means one verified Profile per staffed office, the practice areas it actually handles as categories and services, the same name, address and phone number on the website and every directory, and a steady flow of real reviews from Arizona clients. Our Phoenix-located read on 9 October 2026 showed the local pack held by agencies with Phoenix Profiles and reviews — a measurable thing a firm can build.

How do Arizona's advertising rules shape marketing for personal injury and criminal defense firms in Phoenix?

Arizona's advertising rules are ER 7.1 and ER 7.3. Injury and criminal defense marketing in Phoenix must not promise or guarantee results, must carry the name and contact information of a responsible lawyer or firm, may call a lawyer a 'certified specialist' only under Supreme Court Rule 44, and may not solicit a specific person by live contact for gain.

Personal injury and wrongful death, and criminal law, are two of the nine fields the State Bar of Arizona's Board of Legal Specialization certifies, so the word 'specialist' is where these two practices most often slip: ER 7.1(b) reserves 'certified specialist' for lawyers who meet Rule 44, and the State Bar's own tips sheet notes that firms are not certified, lawyers are.

Two older restrictions are gone. Effective 1 January 2021, Supreme Court Order R-20-0030 deleted the 30-day bar on soliciting personal-injury and wrongful-death victims and the 'Advertising Material' label on written solicitations from ER 7.3. What remains is ER 7.3's ban on live person-to-person solicitation for pecuniary gain, and its bar on contacting anyone who has asked not to be solicited or with coercion, duress or harassment. We write practice-area pages for Phoenix firms inside those lines and flag anything a reviewing attorney should confirm.

What makes good law firm web design in Phoenix?

Good law firm web design in Phoenix is fast, readable on a phone, and built so every practice-area page answers a client's question in its first lines. Under ER 7.1(c) the site must name a lawyer or firm responsible for its content, with contact information, and the firm — not the agency — should own the domain, code and content.

ER 7.1(c) applies to a website as much as to a billboard: 'Any communication made pursuant to this Rule shall include the name and contact information for at least one lawyer or law firm responsible for its content.' The rule's comment counts a website address, a telephone number, an email address or a physical office location as contact information.

Design for the reader first: the answer before the hero image, the court and the process explained plainly, the office or service area stated honestly, and nothing on the page that promises a result.

Is buying law firm leads or paying for referrals allowed in Phoenix?

Arizona is unusual: it deleted ER 7.2, the rule barring payment for recommending a lawyer, effective 1 January 2021. The State Bar says a lawyer may now pay a lawyer or nonlawyer a referral fee and advertise it, if not misleading — but other duties still apply, so have counsel review any per-lead or per-case arrangement.

The State Bar's Ethics Tips for Attorney Marketing lists the duties that survive: a client must consent before a referral source is told that the client contacted or hired the lawyer; a referral source may not do what the lawyer cannot, such as the in-person solicitation ER 7.3 prohibits; and a business arrangement with a referral source must not create a personal interest that affects the representation. You may advertise that you pay referral fees 'if this is not misleading'.

We run paid search and intake for Phoenix firms with the firm named on every ad and landing page, and we put the vendor's terms in front of the firm's counsel before a dollar is spent.

FAQ

Phoenix AI legal marketing — answered

Yes. We provide AI-powered legal marketing and GEO services for firms in Phoenix and across the U.S. — law-firm-only since 2002, with an office at 101 North First Avenue, Suite 2325, Phoenix, AZ 85003. We specialize in positioning Phoenix attorneys inside the knowledge graphs of ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews.

Through four core mechanisms: (1) structured Schema.org markup (LegalService, Person, Organization) that makes expertise machine-readable; (2) third-party citations across directories, bar associations and review platforms AI engines trust; (3) topical authority pages targeting local courts and practice areas; and (4) fact-dense, question-shaped content that answers the queries AI engines retrieve.

Combine three approaches: GEO gets your firm cited as a source by AI engines; AEO wins the featured answer and AI Overviews; and local SEO wins the Google map pack. We measure signed cases, not vanity traffic — clients average 18:1–21:1 ROI. Past results do not guarantee future outcomes.

Pricing is month-to-month with no lock-in and scales with scope — practice areas, service-area breadth and content volume. We include a free 23-point AI-visibility audit, and you own all code, content and data we build.

Schema and technical fixes typically land within 1–3 weeks. AI citation share begins to compound within 60–90 days as topical authority builds around your practice areas and the local courts you serve.

Traditional agencies focus on Google keyword rankings and link building. We position your firm inside the knowledge graphs that power ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. Founded by a former Google Marketing Director, we measure success by signed cases and AI citation share, and clients own their assets.

We specialize in personal injury, family law, criminal defense, employment law, estate planning, immigration, and bankruptcy. Each practice area receives dedicated local content built around the courts and tailored FAQ/schema for firms serving {city} and surrounding cities.

Start with a free, 23-point AI-visibility audit. We show exactly how ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI currently describe your firm, which directories rank above you, and the prioritized action plan. Schedule a call or submit the audit form — results in about 24 hours.

Advertising compliance

Arizona attorney-advertising rules every law firm marketer must follow

Arizona rewrote its lawyer-advertising rules in 2020. Supreme Court Order R-20-0030, filed August 27, 2020 and effective January 1, 2021, amended ERs 7.1 through 7.5 of Rule 42: ER 7.1 (false or misleading communications) and ER 7.3 (solicitation) remain, and ERs 7.2 (advertising and payment for recommendations), 7.4 (fields of practice) and 7.5 (firm names) were deleted and marked [Reserved], with their surviving substance moved into ER 7.1 and its comments. Neither ER 7.1 nor ER 7.3 requires an advertisement to be filed with or approved by the State Bar before use; the former ER 7.3(c)(1), which required a copy of every written solicitation to be forwarded to the State Bar's Phoenix office, was deleted in the same order. Rule text read from the Order on 2026-10-10 and checked against the State Bar of Arizona's Ethics Tips for Attorney Marketing; this is a description of the published rules, not legal advice — confirm application with your own counsel.

False or misleading communications

ER 7.1, 7.1(a)

ER 7.1 opens: "A lawyer shall not make or knowingly permit to be made on the lawyer's behalf a false or misleading communication about the lawyer or the lawyer's services." Paragraph (a): "A communication is false or misleading if it contains a material misrepresentation of fact or law, or omits a fact necessary to make the statement considered as a whole not materially misleading." Comment [2]: "Promising or guaranteeing a particular outcome or result is misleading."

Name and contact information on every communication

ER 7.1(c)

ER 7.1(c): "Any communication made pursuant to this Rule shall include the name and contact information for at least one lawyer or law firm responsible for its content." Comment [9]: contact information "includes a website address, a telephone number, an email address or a physical office location."

Specialization and certification claims

ER 7.1(b); Ariz. R. Sup. Ct. 44

ER 7.1(b): "A lawyer shall not state or imply that a lawyer is certified as a specialist in a particular field of law, unless the lawyer complies with Arizona Supreme Court Rule 44 requirements." Comment [6] permits a lawyer to say the lawyer "concentrates in" or "specializes in" a field based on experience, subject to the false-and-misleading standard; Comment [8] requires the name of the certifying organization in any communication about a certification. The State Bar's tips sheet adds that firms are not certified, lawyers are — identify the certified lawyers, not the firm.

Firm names and trade names

ER 7.1, Comment [4]

Governed by ER 7.1 and its Comment [4], not a separate rule: a firm may be designated by the names of current or deceased members "or by a trade name if it is not false or misleading"; a name is misleading if it implies a connection with a government agency, a lawyer not associated with the firm, a nonlawyer, or a public or charitable legal services organization. ER 7.5 (Firm Names and Letterheads) is [Reserved].

Solicitation

ER 7.3(b)–(c)

ER 7.3(b): "A lawyer shall not solicit professional employment by live person-to-person contact when a significant motive for the lawyer's doing so is the lawyer's or firm's pecuniary gain," unless the contact is with a lawyer, a person who has a family, close personal, or prior business or professional relationship with the lawyer or firm, or a person who routinely uses the type of legal services offered for business purposes. ER 7.3(c) bars any solicitation where the target has made known a desire not to be solicited, or that involves coercion, duress or harassment. The former 30-day bar on soliciting personal-injury and wrongful-death victims and the "Advertising Material" label on written solicitations were deleted effective January 1, 2021.

Payment for recommendations and referral fees

ER 7.2 [Reserved]; State Bar tips sheet

ER 7.2 is [Reserved]: Arizona deleted the rule that barred giving "anything of value to a person for recommending the lawyer's services" effective January 1, 2021. The State Bar's Ethics Tips for Attorney Marketing: "ER 7.2's ban on referral fees was deleted January 1, 2021. Lawyers may now pay anyone – lawyer or nonlawyer – a referral fee. You may advertise that you pay referral fees, if this is not misleading" — while client consent is required before disclosing that a referred client hired the lawyer, referral sources may not do what the lawyer cannot (ER 7.3), and a business arrangement with a referral source must not create a personal interest that affects the representation.

Governing rules: Arizona Rules of Professional Conduct (Ariz. R. Sup. Ct. 42): ER 7.1 and ER 7.3 — ERs 7.2, 7.4 and 7.5 are [Reserved] since January 1, 2021. InterCore builds and reviews every Phoenix, Arizona campaign to these standards — real compliance, not guesswork.
