Google's local pack is being replaced by AI-generated local results. Joy Hawkins discovered the new format, and Darren Shaw of Whitespark named it the AI Local 6 Pack. For law firms, the practical answer is unchanged in its foundation and different in its emphasis: keep doing local SEO, then build the off-site evidence an AI engine can actually retrieve and corroborate.

What is the AI Local 6 Pack?
It is an AI-generated replacement for Google's traditional local pack — the block of nearby businesses that has historically sat near the top of a local query. The name is Whitespark's, not ours. Darren Shaw introduced it in Whitespark's newsletter on 4 August 2026, writing that Joy Hawkins “recently discovered the new AI-driven local results (which I'm calling the 'AI Local 6 Pack')”. We are reporting on their finding, and we recommend reading the original.
We have not independently verified the rollout, its geography, or which query types trigger it. What follows is our read of what it means for law firms — not a claim to have discovered it.
